If for some reason rent is due today and your check still hasn't arrived in your landlord's mailbox, don't worry - there's an easy fix.
Before you read on, please know that these instructions apply only if you chose to pay through a check from your own bank account. If you paid via a different payment method, please get in touch with us ASAP. If you are paying a landlord who is signed up for RentTrack, this also does not apply - please reach out to our support team if you are having an issue with payment.
First, try asking your landlord to make sure that the check is not waiting in their mailbox or in a pile of mail. (It happens every so often!) The mailman could have also made an error and put your check in the wrong mailbox. If this happens, follow the instructions below for paying with an alternate method.
Paying Rent With an Alternate Method
Your rent payment stays in your account until the check is cashed, and no one should be able to deposit the money except the person you made it out to - your landlord.
This means your money will still be available to make a payment using a different method.
We recommend that you pay your landlord directly today, using a different payment method that they will accept.
If you pay using another method, you'll need to let your landlord know not to cash the check if it does arrive later. You also have the option to call your bank and stop payment on the check we originally sent. You can find instructions on how to do this here.
Finally, if you do end up paying using an alternate method, please get in touch with us by using the chat window in the bottom right and let us know so that we can make sure we have the correct information on where to send your check.
