NOTE: The answer in this article only applies to you if your landlord or property manager collects rent online through RentTrack. If you signed up for RentTrack without your landlord and pay by a check that is sent via mail, please see this section in our help center.
When you request a refund, the first step is that RentTrack has to contact your property manager for approval. If they approve your refund request, it can take 2-8 business days before they are returned, depending on your payment method. For example:
- Credit card transactions: Refunds are processed immediately. If they have already settled into the deposit account, they must be withdrawn and verified before they are refunded which will take between 2-3 business days (e.g. a refund issued on Monday will post to your card by Wednesday or Thursday). If they have not been settled into the deposit account, then the refund is actually a void and will be returned the next business day.
- E-check transactions: Refunds cannot be initiated until 5 business days after the payment is made. Once a refund is initiated, it will be returned to your bank account in 1-2 business days.
