If you opt out of/stop reporting rent, you could lose the credit history you built while reporting your rent.
Losing your rental credit history will be one less positive trade line that will impact your credit report and score.
The upside of reporting is when you complete your lease, your rental trade line is shown as a closed trade line in good standing.

If you want to change your rent reporting settings by opting out of reporting to one of the bureaus.

  1. On your 'Build Credit History' tab, click on 'Manage Bureau Reporting'.

2. You may decide to uncheck a bureau, or all if you would like to stop reporting completely.

3. When you return to your payment reporting summary, you will see that your reporting is turned off for those bureaus you unchecked.

4. Your trade line will be closed by Experian if no payments is made within 90 days. Your trade line will close with Equifax and Transunion if no payment is made for 18 months.
