How will my check be delivered?
After your payment is withdrawn from either your bank account or charged to your credit card, our vendor prints your check and puts it in the mail. We send your check securely via 1st class USPS delivery. To give your check enough time to arrive, we withdraw your payment eight days before your rent is due to provide ample time to print and mail your check.
How does the landlord know the check is from me?
Each check we send includes your full name, rental address, and a memo stating that it's the rent payment for your rental. It arrives in a plain envelope, and text is visible through the address window stating "Rent Payment Enclosed" or "Rent Check Enclosed." This is to ensure that your landlord opens the envelope upon receipt.
How can I see the status of my rent check?
From your RentTrack dashboard, you will be able to see the status of your payment. We will show you when the rent payment is withdrawn (processing), when the check is sent (sending), and when your landlord cashes your check (paid). Please note- if you need to cancel a payment for any reason, this can only be done on the day the payment starts processing.
What might cause a check to be late or missing?
Every once in a while, a rent check arrives late or goes missing. It’s almost always due to issues that are outside of our control. Whether the mailman slipped the envelope into the wrong mailbox, your landlord accidentally threw it away, or our check processing vendor made an error, there’s not much that we can do to prevent it — unfortunately, we’re in the same boat as any other bill pay service out there. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that your check will arrive. Check tracking is not available at this time.
What should I do if my check isn't delivered?
If your check is not delivered to your landlord, we can stop payment on that check and begin the process of returning those funds into your account. It can take 2-4 business days to move the funds back into your account, depending on your bank's policies.
Please note that when we stop payment on a check, it can no longer be cashed. It's a good idea to double check with your landlord before stopping payment on a check, just to make sure it's not sitting in a pile of unopened mail. If you do decide to stop payment on a check, we recommend letting your landlord know not to cash it if it arrives later, because it will be returned.
For now, please pay your landlord the same way you normally would without RentTrack — using a paper check, cash, or money order.
Will you pay my late fees?
No. Per our terms of service, we do not cover the cost of any late fees incurred. However, we are happy to get in touch with your landlord or property manager to confirm that you initiated a rent payment using our service and attempt to have the fee waived.
