Credit card processing time depends on who issued the credit card payment. The general rule of thumb is 14 days. The issuing bank has discretion as to when to release holds on a consumer’s account. If consumers have questions on the timing, have them (or the cardholder) call their bank representative regarding this hold.

Note - It is possible for authorizations/holds to expire after a certain amount of time. If that happens you will still order the background check, but the applicants card will not be charged. You will get an error message when this occurs.
